Message	the metal area where it pivots. The "ears" of the pump sit on either side of it so you can't just pull it straight out. All the gunk makes it very tight as well. Clean it off well after you get it out to make re-installation easier. Also make sure you have disconnected the suction hose, it's the upside down question mark shaped hose that attaches at the rear of the pump and then under the reservoir above. Disconnect it at the reservoir.
